How To Decorate With Wine Crates - Decorating Tips
65
Wondering how to decorate with wine crates? Well, decorating with wine crates isn't as hard as you may think, and there are many options.
Most people throw wine crates away, not knowing how to decorate with them. Or they simply use them to store extra bottles. But you can decorate with wine crates in a number of interesting ways.
When talking about decorating with wine crates, you want to look for those ways which have both aesthetic and utilitarian purposes. Wine crates are inexpensive items which can often be found for free. Simply ask the owner of your local wine and liquor shops if they are willing to give away or sell the crates. If this doesn't work, search online for good deals on wine crates. Once you have them in your possession, the decorating can begin.
Things You’ll Need:
Wine crates (duh)
Wallpaper
Wallpaper glue
Decorative items
Plastic sheeting
Finishing nails
Flowers, bulbs or plants
Decorative cloth or sheet
Paint or wood stain
How To Decorate With Wine Crates:
Making Wall Hangings Out Of Wine Crates
Step 1: Affix a bracket to the back of the wine crate, or else two eye hooks and a wire hanger.
Step 2: Wallpaper the inside of the wine crate with the paper of your choosing. You will likely want to choose wallpaper that fits in with the decor of the room where you intend to hang them.
Step3: Hang the wine crate on the wall wherever you think
it looks best and place whichever decorate items you like inside. Just make
sure you don't place too many items inside, and go with lighter instead of
heavier pieces. If you put too much weight on, you might find your wall won't hold the wine crate.
Making A Planter Out Of Wine Crates
Step 1: Line the wine crate with plastic sheeting and nail it into place using small finishing nails.
Step 2: Fill the wine crate with planting soil just up to the brim.
Step 3: Plant flowers, bulbs or other plants inside the wine crate and place either outside or near a window with adequate light.
Making Bookshelves Out Of Wine Crates
Step 1: Collect several wine crates and place them one on top of the other. Stacking them against furniture or against a wall will help keep them well balanced.
Step 2: Place books and decorative items inside the wine crates.
Step 3: Place a decorative cloth or sheet over the wine crates for an added bit of flair. You can also paint or stain them to further decorate the wine crates if you so wish.

Interesting idea. I must look at other neglected items for decoration.
I love reusing items, but sadly do not come across wine crates very often. Love the planter idea. And the link to Bukowski, I am not familiar with that book and will have to check it out. Thanks!
This is great. How-to's/DIY projects with wine crates are always my favorite pieces. Thank you for taking the time to put this together.
